Mandie and the Medicine Man by Lois Gladys Leppard

About this book:

“A Cherokee superstition seems to have come back to haunt Mandie and her friends – the gold they discovered has been donated to build a new hospital, but someone or something is tearing the walls down as fast as they can be built. The guard posted to watch the site is knocked out, tied up and blindfolded.”

Series: Book #6 in the Mandie series. This series is about an orphan girl living in 19th century North Carolina.

Review:

I would highly recommend this book for girls ages 9-12. There is no inappropriate language or content. In the series, she and a boy make a pledge to each other to marry when they reach adulthood, however there is no physical contact between them. You may find it difficult to understand this book if you have not read the previous books.
