About This Book:

“Twelve-year-old Winnie Willis loves horses-just like her mother did. But since her mom died two years ago, Winnie, her sister, Lizzie, and her father have moved five times. Winnie never cared much-until now. She has a chance to buy the horse of her dreams at an up-coming auction, but how will she ever earn enough money? More importantly, how can she possibly convince her dad not to move them to another town . . . again?” Exerpt from the back of the book.

Review: This is a really good book except for two points, #1: where her sister says she can have this one boy for a boyfriend. She doesn’t like it, which is good, but it still comes up in the book. The second point is that is uses the New Living Translation of the Bible, instead of the King James Version. The author’s  website is at http://dandibooks.com/. ♥♥♥♥

I prefer the King James Version, because I believe that it is the most accurate translation in English. There are inaccurate changes in other translations, including the New Living Translation; these changes range from different word usages to complete groups of verses removed. Since I believe that God inspired His Word and also preserved it as He promised, I want to make sure I am reading all of His Words and not missing out! With that said, from a literary standpoint, there is nothing wrong with using it in your book. 🙂 Thanks for commenting!

I loved reading this series as a pre-teen! I ended up reading many of Dandi Daley Machall’s books and enjoying them. I had a question about your review though…you mention that you didn’t like the author using the New Living Translation? Is that something authors are not supposed to do? I am editing my first novel and wanted to be clear about that. =)
